If you have been kicking around the idea of hosting your own website, now is the best time to sign up and do so. Hosting your own domain name is no different from using blogger.com, and you get to do a lot more with your website. You can also host your blogspot on your own domain if you choose to.
Pros Of Hosting Your Website
- Flexibility of creating more income streams.
- You get paid more for sponsored posts.
- Unlimited selection of templates for your website.
- Detailed traffic stats to improve your income and conversion rates.
Cons Of Hosting Your Website
- You have to learn a little bit of Cpanel, FTP and HTML.
- You have to pay for domain registration and web hosting.
For most people, it is the technical aspect of your own hosting that is holding you back. From experience, this is almost a non-issue. Sure, there are a number of things you have to know, but you pick this up pretty quickly. In the past year, I have built or maintained 10 websites. Some of them are mine, most of them are my clients.
While building websites is my passion, I come from a non-IT background. Everything that I have learned is through my own efforts, I did not attend any courses or schools. If I can do this while maintaining a full-time career and raising a small family, heck anyone can.
Almost exactly 2 years from my initial foray into internet marketing, I am now doing this full time. Very few people I know would venture into a new business in a new industry while having to deal with housing loans and the cost of raising 2 little kids.
