Ultimate Blogging Giveaway Review

Having joined Stephanie Mulac's Ultimate Blogging Giveaway today, I spend the afternoon going through the products in the giveaway. On the first glance, it was quite impressive, there are almost 50 pages of products from contributors. On closer inspection, some of the products are given away by multiple contributors. Still, there remained a lot of interesting downloads about blogging. Some of these came with Private Label Rights, others came with Master Resell Rights.

So I thought I would just pick a few products that interest me, and what do you know? Some internet marketers forgot their opt-in form and they were trying to tell people to subscribe to their list. Others probably pasted the html code, but the opt-in form was not showing up on the page. I found it amusing more than anything and I am left wondering who this people thought they were kidding.

I do not support the fake until you make it school of thought. There is nothing wrong with starting out as a newbie, we have all been there and done that. Just don't try to fake it, even reading the copy doesn't sound natural. Be yourself, set up your website that reflects your passions and just go with the flow. You will get more done that way and people will not be laughing at you.

Unfortunately, this giveaway isn't managed well and I am kinda disappointed that this was Stephanie Mulac's giveaway. She ought to know better.

The OTO doesn't cost much, it just wasn't right for me at the moment. But that's me.

The way Giveaway works is that you sign up for it. Then you download the products you fancy, but before you can download, you will have to opt-in at the contributor's website in order to receive your gifts. I have seen some of the products, and it contains ebooks, audio, email courses, software and PLR products.

The giveaway website as you would expect is nicely done, it is after all, Stephanie Mulac. Although, there were 2 contributors who seems to have forgotten to put their opt-in form in their sign-up page! New internet marketers maybe:) well I guess we should give them the benefit of the doubt.

Web Profit Plans Exposed

I have just gone through the Web Profit Plans, a brand new product by Jeremy Gislason and Simon Hodgkinson. As you can see from the post before this one, it didn't take very long. And I will tell you why.

The Review
Web Profit Plans promises to hand you the wisdom and experience acquired by its creators so that you don't have to learn it the hard way, through painful trial and error.

For starters, the sales letter is a beauty. Very well written, and what you get is very well presented.

So does the sales letter lives up to its promise?

I personally believe that affiliate marketing consist of 3 main actions:

1) What to promote - the product or service
2) How to promote - how to get people to want it
3) Where to promote - where you present your offer to your market

Well, the free download does give you overview that answers where and how to find products to promote. This is what it is - an overview, in video and mindmap format. To get into the meat of it, you need to take them up on their offer "The Traffic Profit Plan". If you do sign up, you get a bunch of bonuses which will complement the plans, and turn it into a system you can use.

I can see the direction this product is going. The Web Profit Plans gives the an overview of the various components of what an affiliate marketing system should consist of. They tell you where you can start to look for products, and does give you some tips. But the main key is to build your list, and the things that need to done to build your list. That's why they are offering Traffic and List Building Plans as an up-sell.

The mindmap does a competent job of showing you the steps and actions that need to be done. It is comprehensive, and it isn't complicated. It is definitely easy to follow.

Miss any one of these steps and you will be leaving a pile of cash on the table. But get them all together, and you can build a system to build a list and build your affiliate income.

The Conclusion
Jeremy Gislason and Simon Hodgkinson does practice what they preach. Having viewed the Web Profit Plans, and having seen the way they promote their products, they do show you how it's done.

But the free download is an overview. It does not go into detail as to how you actually do your market research, what is the criteria in selecting a product. There are no over-the-shoulder look at how these are done.

In short, the information that is presented can be found anywhere on the internet, and has been presented by many internet marketers and gurus. But it is well-presented by Jeremy Gislason and Simon Hodgkinson. Just short on details. Having said that, it is more than enough to guide you in the right direction.

1. Good for absolute beginners.
2. Mindmap should be printed out and referred to.
3. Video is of good quality, and information is well presented.
4. It's free, and what you need to do is listed step by step.

The downside is that it does not present any over-the-shoulder look on how things are done. Nor does it give you any criteria on how to select the products to promote. The Web Profit Plans is a product targeted at beginners, and will serve as a guide to affiliate marketing. If you need more details, you will have to look for other products or internet marketing course.

Choose Your Domain Name

When you decide to host your own website, you will need to register for a domain name first. It is worth the time and trouble to research what domain name you should get. There are actually a couple things you should do first before you register a domain name.

1.) Check for blacklisted domain name
If you are using a generic domain name, it is a good idea to check if it is blacklisted.
You can use this service: http://lookup.uribl.com/ to check if you domain name has been blacklisted.

2.) Research your keyword
It makes sense that your domain name should contain your keyword. It makes it easier for people to find you, and with some basic SEO optimization it will help you rank on search engines, such as Google.

3.) Look at how the domain name reads
Is it easy to read, or remember? How difficult is it to type? The domain name should be short and easy to remember. You will be surprised how some businesses get this wrong, with hilarious results.

Magazines From Amazon For May

Has anybody seen the offers from Amazon.com for magazine subscriptions this month? This is an amazing value for money subscription whichever way you look at it. Magazines are a fast way to get the latest news and happenings for your favorite topic, compared to books. Personally, I read a lot of magazines, and most of the magazines I read are published in the US. If you were to buy them where I live, the price in USD might be the same, the exchange rate will make a dent in your wallet.

What I normally do is to get magazines from local distributors, who I happen to know a few. But what I like to do most is to get back-copies from them. I flip through magazines, reading only topics that interest me, and I study their layout, writing styles, advertisements, etc. So getting back-copies work for me, and it costs a lot less.

For the month of May, if you order from Amazon.com, you will only be paying USD1.00 (depending on the magazine) per issue. The downside is these subscriptions on apply to the US. The good news for those in the US is the free shipping that is part of the subscription. The categories for magazines are on the left sidebar.

Why the drastic price cut?
Firstly, I do not know the subscription rate for the second year, you might end up paying the full price. The subscription rate for the first year might just be their cost of acquisition per customer. It is not unheard off to operate at a loss in order to get a subscriber. You could make it back over the course of customers lifetime purchases.

Secondly, with the explosion of on-line magazines and the incredible growth of the internet, the publishing industry is probably getting a lot tougher. The printing cost per issue of magazine is off-set by advertisement income,and if you can print the magazine outside the US, that reduces the printing costs even more. Again, over a customers lifetime, the initial loss can be covered by future business.

Thirdly, US magazines are exported world-wide, and Asia is the growth is right now. It could be that the exports can be sold at full price, even counting the additional cost of shipping and distributors margins.

Buying Smart
While brick and mortar stores are essential to the sustainability of any country's economy, there is really no excuses for not buying smart. If you find a better deal on the internet, that's where you should be buying.
